Electrician

What is it? Installing, repairing, maintaining or operating electrical devices or wiring.

Why is it important to sustainability? – Qualified and competent electricians guarantee interrelated technologies are installed and maintained safely. Without them, performance and safety will be reduced, leading to more carbon emissions. They collaborate with others to deliver energy efficiency and a safe, clean environment.

What is it? Surveyors offer impartial, specialist advice on a variety of property related issues and the services which they provide are diverse. Chartered Surveyors work in all fields of property and building consultancy. A Chartered surveyor is a surveyor who has gained, and consistently demonstrates, a high level of skill or competence in their field of work, recognised by the award of formal accreditation from RICS.

Why is it important to sustainability? Chartered surveyors are professionals with expertise in evaluating and managing properties and construction projects. Therefore, their influence extends beyond mere property valuation, as they act as vital advisors to clients on matters of sustainability. By integrating sustainable practices into their work, surveyors can contribute to reducing the environmental impact of construction and property development projects.

What is it? Roofers and solar installers are skilled tradespeople responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining roofs and solar panels on various buildings.

Right now, there is a major push in the built environment industry to hire and train more women, people from ethnic and other minority backgrounds, and people with disabilities (including people who are neurodiverse). Currently, the percentage of women working in the built environment sector is rising and increased from 23% in 2022 to 29.1% in 2023.
